The London Secure Data Environment: a learning health system advancing research, innovation and population health improvement in a global city.
The London Secure Data Environment
The London Secure Data Environment (SDE) brings together one of the world’s most comprehensive health data assets to drive innovation and improvement in one of the world’s most diverse global cities. This opens up new possibilities for partnerships in discovery, translational research and implementation science.
We expect the platform will be operational with London-wide linked data from April 2026.
Accessing insights through the London SDE
We are inviting partners to contact the London SDE Research Service to explore the research and development opportunities available from the joined-up and de-identified records from primary, secondary and tertiary care data within the London SDE, and how these could deliver public benefit.
The London SDE Research Service will support you to be part of our Learning Health System by connecting NHS, academic and commercial innovation partners with the data they need to develop and adopt ideas that tackle the real-world health challenges we face.
How we will support you
The London SDE Research Service will support you step-by-step through the data access process:
- Project access request
- Data feasibility and technical proposal
- Information governance review
- Commercial / collaboration contracts
- Access to data
- Connection to London SDE delivery partners across London for analytics support.
London Secure Data Environment ‘Driver Projects’

- Cardiovascular disease
- Children and young people’s mental health
