The London Care Record has now been viewed over 20 million times by frontline health and care staff helping them provide faster, safer and more effective care across the Capital and beyond (25 October 2022).
This is a major milestone in the development of the London Care Record which was introduced in March 2020 to speed up communication between care professionals across London to improve the safety of care.
As a single and secure view of a person’s health and care information the London Care Record lets health and care professionals involved in a person’s care see important details about them when and where they need them. This includes any conditions a person has, their test results, medicines they take, anything they are allergic to and plans for their care.
Each month around 50,000 different health and care professionals are viewing the London Care Record. OneLondon is working to connect more health and care providers to the London Care Record so even more frontline staff can access it.

Dr Phil Koczan, GP and NHS England Digital Clinical Lead, said:
“As a GP in north east London I see first hand the positive difference the London Care Record is making. By having immediate access to important information it gives me a more complete picture of a patient helping me make informed decisions more quickly.
“Recently I was able to check the London Care Record for hospital x-ray results that were taken at a hospital elsewhere in London and able to reassure a patient and avoid booking them in for a hospital follow up appointment they did not need. This is a much better outcome for the patient and also a much more effective way to operate – saving time and money.
“It is just one of thousands of daily examples of how the London Care Record is helping to improve health and care across the Capital and beyond.”
